Phi Phi Islands
The Phi Phi archipelago lies about 40–50 km south-east of Phuket, around 45 minutes to 1 hour each way by speedboat. A typical day combines Maya Bay (the beach from the film “The Beach”), Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach and snorkelling stops. James Bond Island and Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay, north-east of Phuket, is a sheltered sea dotted with limestone islands. Most programs include the famous rock of Koh Tapu (seen in “The Man with the Golden Gun”), sea canoeing through caves and lagoons, and often Koh Panyee, a village on stilts. Because the bay is protected from the open sea, it is the most reliable boat trip all year. Choose the speedboat / long-tail version for a faster crossing, or the big boat for comfort with children.
Similan Islands
The Mu Ko Similan National Park opened for the 2026–27 season on 15 October 2026 and is scheduled to close on 15 May 2027. Trips leave from the Khao Lak area, north of Phuket, so the day is long (usually early morning to early evening). The park limits daily visitors, so book a few days ahead from December to March. Coral Island lies just off Phuket's south coast and Racha Yai about 20 km south, so the crossings are short.
