Phuket Excursion Prices 2026: How Much Do Tours Cost?

A Phuket excursion in 2026 costs anywhere from roughly 1,000 THB for a short land tour to well over 3,000 THB per adult for a full-day speedboat trip to the outer islands, and a private boat can cost ten times more. The price depends mainly on the type of boat, the distance, whether national park fees are included and how you are picked up from your hotel. How much is a Phi Phi tour?

With us, a Phi Phi and Khai Islands day trip starts from 3,100 ฿ per adult. Across Phuket, join-in speedboat tours to Phi Phi generally cost around 1,500 to 3,000 THB per adult at the time of writing (2026), while a private speedboat charter usually costs roughly 15,000 to 25,000 THB for the whole boat. Check whether the 400 THB national park fee is included, because it is not always.

How much is a James Bond Island tour?

A James Bond Island tour starts from 2,300 ฿ per adult by speedboat, or from 2,600 ฿ on the big boat, which is slower but more stable and more spacious. How much is a Similan Islands tour?

A Similan Islands day trip starts from 3,000 ฿ per adult. It costs more because the islands are far offshore (the trip usually leaves from the Khao Lak area, north of Phuket), and the park is only open part of the year. For the 2026–2027 season, the park opens on 15 October 2026 and closes on 15 May 2027. More details in our guide Similan Islands: best time to go.

What drives the price of a Phuket boat trip?

Six factors explain most of the price differences you will see.

1. Speedboat vs big boat. A speedboat is faster, so you see more islands and spend less time travelling, but fuel costs more per passenger. A big boat or catamaran is usually cheaper, calmer and better for families or anyone prone to seasickness. See speedboat vs big boat.
2. Distance and number of islands. A trip to Coral and Racha islands, close to Phuket, costs less than a trip to the Similan Islands, which are much further away. Each extra stop adds fuel and time.
3. National park fees. Most famous islands are inside marine national parks. The fee is either included in the price or paid in cash on the day. A lower price that excludes the fee is not always cheaper.
4. Join-in or private. On a join-in tour you share the boat with other travellers. A private boat is priced for the whole boat, so it only becomes good value for a group or a family.
5. Hotel area and transfer. Most excursions include hotel pick-up from the main beach areas. If you stay further out, a transfer surcharge may apply.
6. Season. Demand peaks from November to April, and especially around Christmas and New Year, when boats fill up early. Read what to book for December and New Year.

Are national park fees included in the tour price?

Sometimes, but not always, so always ask before you pay. At the time of writing (2026), the official fees for foreign visitors are:

Child rates generally apply from 3 to 14 years old. Fees are set by Thailand's Department of National Parks and can change, and Maya Bay closes every year from 1 August to 30 September for nature recovery.

What is usually included in a Phuket excursion?

A standard day trip usually includes the activity itself, a guide and, for most excursions, return hotel transfer. Full-day boat trips often include lunch, drinking water and snorkelling equipment, but this varies from one excursion to another. The exact inclusions are listed on each excursion page, and that is what you should compare, not just the headline price.

Hidden extras to check before paying

The cheapest offer is often the one with the most extras on the day. Before you pay, check:

• National park fee: included, or to be paid in cash on the boat or at the pier?
• Transfer surcharge: is pick-up free from your exact hotel, or only from certain areas?
• Drinks: water and soft drinks are often provided; alcohol rarely is.
• Equipment: fins, life jackets in children's sizes, wetsuits or diving gear may cost extra.
• Optional activities: canoeing, photos, or extra stops can be sold on site.
• Child conditions: the age or height limit for the child price differs between excursions.

Why do prices differ so much between street stalls, hotels and online?

The same excursion can be sold at very different prices in Phuket because each seller adds its own margin, and because two trips with the same name are not always the same product. Hotel tour desks often charge more for convenience. Large online platforms add their commission and usually ask you to prepay. Street stalls can be cheap, but the boat, the number of passengers per boat or what is included may differ from what was promised.

How to pay a fair price for an excursion in Phuket

• Ask for the total price per adult and per child, including park fees and transfer from your hotel.
• Compare like for like: same boat type, same islands, same inclusions.
• Book a few days ahead in high season, especially for Phi Phi and the Similan Islands.
• Plan boat trips early in your stay so you keep spare days if the weather cancels a trip (see Phuket weather and boat trips).
• For a group or family, compare the price of a private boat with several join-in tickets.
• Avoid paying a large cash deposit to a seller you cannot find again.
